Okay, so I got my school books today ($433= *dies*) and I've been looking through my Japanese book and...

their romanji sucks!

This is an import book, but I think they are using a different romanji style... for example...

せんせい

for those of you who know japanese, even basic... what does this say? It's sensei... plain and simple. The last kana being i. Yet they romanize it as sensee... which the kana would end differently... せんせえ and MEAN SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!!!!!!

I was sitting there typing my vocab list for lesson 1 into JWP and I was like wtf? They also do it for こうこう (romanized- kookoo...umm..no?)
そうです (as soo desu) and ねんせい (nensee) and ばんごう (bangoo).

I've taken to correcting the romanji in my book with pencil. I'll bring it up with the teacher on the first meeting, but this really bugs me, especially since this is an imported book and all.

Anyone who has taken japanese before, tell me i'm not crazy and their romanji style is not right?

Luckily, there is only romanji in the dialog for the first 2 lessons. :D
