OMG I'm ALIVE!!!!
Oct. 6th, 2005 09:55 amOkay, so I know I've been MIA for a few days, in fact, I still sould be in bed right now due to the fact that my head feels like it's going to fall off..BUT...
anyway. I started feeling icky sunday night. BJ kept trying to get me to go to the hospital,I didn't want to at first. By monday morning I had started feeling a little better. We'd gotten a thermometer sunday night and I'd only had a fever of about 100.8. Well of course, we lost the damn thing somehow, so we didn't know what my temp was when he left for school. Once he left, the shit hit the fan. My head felt like it was going to explode and I couldn't stop shivering. Finally he got home, we found the thermometer and guess what? 104.5 kiddos! Yup! So of course, he took my stinky self (i'd been sweating a lot, cmon I'd had 3 fevers break already!) to the hospital where we waited for an HOUR AND A HALF just to see a triage nurse, but luckily since I was a menengitis risk, they put me straight into an ER room. They gave me tylenol to reduce my fever (which worked, but did nothing for my head) and sent me off for a CT scan of my head, after a student nurse tried (and failed) to stick me with an IV. I have some of the worst veins, don't let a student do it! So the nurse stuck me and they pumped me full of fluids. Then they FINALLY decided to give me some morphine when my CT showed up clear, but guess what it was for? For the freaking lumbar puncture (aka spinal tap, AKA BIG FREAKING NEEDLE INTO YOUR SPINE!) They gave me a little more morphine and some versed, and so while I know I was awake for it and could feel it, I don't remember afterwards... hahah... wait, that's not how that's supposed to work is it?
Anyway, wasn't menegitis, just a very VERY nasty Flu, so I haven't eaten anything but a slim fast all week so far, isn't that lovely. Plus, there is a side effect of the lumbar puncture called SPINAL headache if you don't lay flat for 6 hours afterwards, well they kept me in for a good 4 after the LP, but had me sitting up for discharge and stuff, and then when I got home I propped my head up a bit to keep from getting heart burn, like always, and low and behold, I have a spinal headache...and i still have a bit of it... Yay, go me.
Kay, getting a bit dizzy now, going to go grab my slim fast, take my happy flu medicine, and lay back down for an hour or so.
